One day tour Itinerary

Your day begins with collection from your preferred location in London or the surrounding area, where you will meet your professional driver-guide and begin your journey into the world of Jane Austen.

Our first stop is Basingstoke, a town closely associated with Jane Austen and her family. Here you will see the impressive Jane Austen statue and discover several sites and landmarks that celebrate her connection to the area.

We then continue to The Vyne, a magnificent National Trust property that Jane Austen frequently visited with her family. It was here that she attended dances, social gatherings, and other events that helped shape her understanding of Regency society, later reflected in her novels.

Next, we visit the village of Steventon, where Jane Austen spent the first 25 years of her life. It was here that she wrote the early drafts of Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey. Although the rectory where she lived no longer survives, the beautiful 12th-century church where her father served as rector and where Jane worshipped remains an important and atmospheric part of her story.

Our journey continues to Chawton, perhaps the most significant location in Austen's literary life. Visit Jane Austen's House, where she revised Pride and Prejudice and wrote Emma, Mansfield Park, and Persuasion. We also see nearby Chawton House, the Elizabethan manor belonging to her brother Edward Austen, whose support provided Jane with the stability she needed to pursue her writing career.

We then travel to Winchester to visit the magnificent Winchester Cathedral, the final resting place of Jane Austen. Here you can view her grave and learn about the recognition and admiration she received after her death.

A short distance away is College Street, where Jane spent the final weeks of her life. This modest house provides a poignant insight into Austen's last days before her death in 1817.

Our final visit is to Winchester City Museum, home to an important collection of Jane Austen artefacts. Highlights include personal possessions, rare memorabilia, and her elegant 1814 silk pelisse coat, offering a fascinating glimpse into her daily life.

At the conclusion of your tour, relax in comfort as we drive you back to your chosen drop-off location, bringing a memorable day following in the footsteps of Jane Austen to a close.

Please note: Itineraries are subject to change due to operational reasons. Any changes will be advised closer to the time of departure.
